This is a work based on a short story by W.W. Jacobs "The Monkey's Paw" (http://gaslight.mtroyal.ca/mnkyspaw.htm)
My illustration represents the Fakir, who put a spell on the Monkey's paw for it to grant three wishes, which come out in a very twisted way, to demonstrate to people that they have no control over the natural way of the world, they are only a part of the flow of life. In my illustration he is offering the charmed monkey's paw to the first person who would be using it, which is you as a viewer at the same time. It is a moment of choice and tension.  It feels like you are on the edge, free to step over the line and take the tricky chance that the fate is offering you or stay content with what you have. It is a moment of decision. You are under the through-looking eyes of the Fakir and this is your choice. And you will make it.
